Another cool Dish feature - the remote has an IR receiver allowing you to program any button on the remote - finally, just one remote to control everything!

The "Car Talk" Magliozzi brothers wrote up a list of 10-ish cars that they hate as mechanics - because they never break down and create and extra revenue for them. You have your usual Hondas, Toyotas, and Subarus but it's nice to see the Fusion and Altima get their deserved recognition. Though Nolan had a good observation when I sent this to him - all these cars are normal, medium-sized cars. From my experience with wrenching on cars, it seems reliability starts to get compromised on a vehicle when too many complicated features are packed into it (larger, more luxurious cars) or when things are compromised to try to fit things into a tight space in small cars (like alternators that sit below water pumps.)

Both Dish and DirecTV play the numbers game with promotionals to make their deal look the best, but the reality is it's about the same. If you're going to spend so much on TV, you might as well get the channels you want. TCM and BBC of America are standard definition everywhere except Dish - so the winner for me is Dish!

Old tricks still work - I believe Apple used grey for their desktop color back in the day to avoid screen burn-ins. The trick still works for today's plasma displays - ugly, but functional.
