I put together a team of 5 from our school and we went to the St. Charles Community College math Contest today. It was another GPML qualifying competition. I had already qualified, but I decided to go for fun. Our team got 2nd place overall with only 5 people. I got 2nd place in a Target Round, which is usually my weak event. Sandor, a really good freshman, clean sweeped with 1st place in both individual events. Eric, who is in my grade, got 2nd in the Sprint Round. Adrien, a senior, got 2nd, if I remember correctly, in the Target Round.

I fixed the side view mirror on the Cavalier. We drilled a couple holes through it and the steel plate, and put a screw through it. Nice and sturdy. I hammered the door a little so it's not as bent up.
I went to Kohl's Department Store to get clothes. I got a black button-up long sleeve shirt, as well as some other solid colour ones for next winter. They were on clearance. I also got a "blue shirt". I got a new pair of black jeans, it's about time. I also found some nice cheap short-sleeved shirts. Then I stopped by shoes. Woah, there were these $34 Nikes that were soooo comfortable. But they were so ugly. Ugh. Ok, I'll settle for the all-black Reebok shoes.

I ran my Cavalier into my house today. The house broke, the car is fine. Ok ok, the gutter downspout broke off, and is bent out of shape, and the entire gutter system is messed up. As for the car, the right side mirror broke off, and I totally bent up the frame. I backed out of the driveway like I normally do, and there seemed to be plenty of room, and then the mirror I was looking at to back out with dissapeared. Oops, definitely knocked it off. Owell, the entire right door frame is bent up now. I'll fix the mirror, I have an idea of how to fix it.
My Dad ordered toner for our laser printer earlier this week, they shipped it next day, and they don't know where it is. So I've had it, I call around Office Depot stores, and turns out, the one closest to here has 2 left, the last 2 they will ever stock, for $10 a kit. Wow. Not bad.

Woah. Our school got a Canon Ultura digital videocamera. It's soooo cool. Firewire, and 2.5" LCD screen. MiniDV. It's great.

The All-State Orchestra CD came in. I need to rip it and put it online, it's totally totally awesome. It's somewhat an amateur job though. It's blue, done by your cheapo CD burner and CD-R media, and using a CD Stomper to label it. And I paid $16 for that. Hmmm.

At the YPSO rehearsal today, we read through Polovitsian Dance. Woah, now I realize how stripped down the version we play for Strolling Strings is. It sounds really nice.
Now this is interesting:
Last week Security Wire Digest reported that National
Discount Brokers claimed that a recent disruption of
service was caused by a distributed denial-of-service
(DDoS) attack, when actually it was caused by a software
problem. Now it is the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology's (MIT) turn to cry wolf. The university
previously claimed that hackers broke into its computer
systems and changed students' grades. Truth be known, the
grade changes were caused by a slip of the mouse when the
grades were entered into a spreadsheet, according to the
university's press office.

I went to Spencer's house today to fix his network. He messed up all the Windows protocols and settings, I had to redo them. So that was something I was familiar with, it went fine.
I dumped a bunch of good video from 8mm video to avi, and then encoding to mpeg1. It works pretty nicely, I'm using an Athlon 550Mhz with a TV capture card, and it encodes really really fast. And I can capture raw video @ 320x240, 15 fps, and 172kbps audio. It's nice, so far I've only gotten to dump stuff from Solo-Ensemble though. When I get time, I'll have to do more.
