I'm going to be building a new server for The Evergreen Project, where I work, soon. The budget is $1500. That's not bad, but then I have to take into account that a 128MB DIMM is $250 right now. So I think what I'm going to go for is a nice 2MB L2 cache FIC board with a K6-III 450Mhz, 256MB RAM, cheapo STB Velocity 128 8MB (same as one that I have in my computer now), and a nice fast 3Com Fast Etherlink Server card. As for hard drives... time to get a Ultra SCSI2 Low Voltage Differential SCSI adapter, and a Quantum Atlas "Tornado". Man, you know a hard drive is great when it's called a Tornado. And man is it a tornado. It spins @ 10000 rpm, has 2 MB cache, 5 ms seek time, and does 160 mb/sec. The 5 year warranty is very nice.

I finally received the results of the auditions for the Young People's Symphonic Orchestra at the St. Louis Symphony Music School. I have been selected to be the concertmaster this year. Wow, this should be a very very very enjoyable experience.
I was also invited to play with the Parkway Baptist Church orchestra, the church I regularly attend. The orchestra plays two out of every three weeks in the morning service and rehearsal briefly before each service. That should be fun too. I also join the youth choir last week, and we are singing in the morning service this coming Sunday.

We had a Video Club meeting today at school. We mastered using this new Amiga Character Generator that we bought over the summer. We put up upcoming events for tomorrow and put it over the school's cable system on channel 62. Really really cool.

Ok, so my neck improves a little overnight. I try to stay off of it, I don't use a backpack at school, didn't play violin in orchestra, etc. But then I noticed throughout the day my fingers were getting numb all the time for no reason. So I do a test: I go in the weight room at school and lift some weights with my arms excercising shoulder and neck muscles. It doesn't hurt. It's only when I MOVE my neck that it hurts, not when I put pressure on it. Ok, so I guess I pinched my nerve or something, because of all this. Now I'm trying to do some "therapy", bending my neck back and forth more and stuff. I hope it works.

I totally messed up by neck and shoulders today. I was just walking in my basement and I tripped a little, and somehow I managed to mess up my neck so that the left side really really hurts. I have never felt pain like this before. I tried playing the violin a bit, and it was all right at first, and then when I stopped to take a break, I found that I couldn't move my neck at all anymore, so I decided I better not do that again.
I joined the youth choir of Parkway Baptist Church, the church that I regularly go to now. It's something I'd never think I'd get into again, singing, that is. Owell, it's pretty fun.
I got around to doing a little Javascript programming for an online interactive quiz for Road Scholars Online. I did it because the freeware program for Mac that we'd been using before was totally useless.
