I'm starting to work on the Symphony Espagnole for violin and orchestra in D minor, Op. 21, by Edouard Lalo, a French composer. It's a really cool piece, I like it, and interesting to play.

We did a little moving around at The Evergreen Project today, where I work. Most of us there got moved to a different location in the office. That gave us a good chance to clean up our stuff too, and do other things like blow out the dust from the computers with air dusters, etc. Air dusters are fun. It's fun to play with very cold liquids.

I am getting the opportunity to upgrade my little Power Computing PowerTower 225 that I use at The Evergreen Project, where I work. I just now realized the machine is around 3 to 4 years old, because that was back in the days of Macintosh clones. And the thing is still nice and of decent speed. I opened it up today to inspect some things, because I plan to install a new hard drive and some more RAM. The first thing I notice is that there are 8 DIMM slots. OK, so I think, "that's cool", and then I find out that each DIMM slot can handle 128MB DIMMs. WOAH. That's a potential of a GIG of RAM :) I run System Profiler to confirm that, only to find that I also have 1MB of L2 Cache. Woah, that's NICE for a 4 year old machine! OK, so that's nice, and then I look in the CPU bay, and there's an empty CPU socket. Now wait a minute, that can't be right, and after checking some websites, it DOES have dual CPU support! Wow! Now if only the freakin BUS weren't 40 Mhz, I'd have a decent speed machine :) Owell, so I order some more RAM, and turns out it uses some wierd Fast Paging RAM that's not EDO, so it's much more expensive than I had thought originally, but still better than the $600 it would have cost at the stupid MacWarehouse place. Now tonight I need to decide whether or not to get two 4.5GB SCA Seagates and RAID them, or get a nice blazing IBM Ultrastar with 2MB of cache.
I attended my first Calculus III class at Washington University today. The course sound interesting, and the instuctor has a nice different approach to Calculus, and mathematics in general, and I like it all.
